Strong will

Yesterday my sister gave me a bar of chocolate for my birthday.
Why does this warrant a blog post?
I gave up chocolate for lent this Easter and decided to carry on not eating any for a whole year.
It was one of the most temping things, to go and eat it as soon as she'd left.
No one would know
I could just eat it all at once
It would taste so good. it's been so long since I'd had some...
And I'd been so good at keeping my Lenten promise didn't I deserve a treat?
But...but I knew it wrong. A voice in side my head said I'd be disappointed in myself. That I'd let myself down if I did it. That I would have wasted all that self control that I had gained.
So I txt Sean and asked if he wanted it and then it would be mine no longer.

I'm not the most disciplined of people. so when I realise that strength in myself it makes me happy. Not proud, because clearly it's not an easy trait for me to demonstrate. But happy that I can stay on the path I have set my self.

When Sean and I started learning martial arts I remember a conversation we had in the car.
He said if I wanted to train with him, in the same school, that I had to be disciplined. That I must stick at it or not at all.
We've been there for years now and have seen students come and go.
Again I'm not saying we're in any shape or form the best in the class. But we are still there and we're seeing through our desire to better ourselves. To challenge and improve.
